Aloha, I currentely live on the Island of Maui where i care for a flock of 8, consisting of 1 redstar, 1 olive egger, 3 Ameraucanas , 1 Red jungle fowl, And two mixed breeds. I allow my chickens to run freely during the day, And am expecting two baby chicks in the next few days. FYI Red jungle fowl make excellent brooders. So Heres my dillema I want to add a chocolate layer to my flock but no companies ship to Hawaii, if anyone Knows of one id greatly appreciate it!! Mahalos

Aloha, welcome to BYC!

One of our members, @Michael OShay , lives in HI and he may have some idea of where you can find the chocolate layers. He welcomes a lot of new members so you may very well see him pop in here to say hi.

Good luck with your hatch. Nice to see you here!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! What a lovely mixed flock you have there. Wishing you the very best of luck in your search for a chocolate layer. Hope Michael is able to help you find one. Good luck also with your chicks hope they hatch ok for you. I too have a broody hen at the moment. A polish one and they are not known for being broody. Hers are due at the weekend and I'm really looking forward to it. She is my first ever broody hen.

Good luck and enjoy BYC :frow

Aloha, and welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Ideal Poultry (http://www.idealpoultry.com/) in Cameron, TX, ships to Hawaii and does a great job. I've received shipments from them on a number of occasions, both on Oahu and on the big island. I've never lost more than 1 or 2 chicks in shipping, and since they always put 2 or 3 extra in the box, I've always gotten what I've paid for. Ideal sells Barnevelders, Cuckoo Marans, and Welsummers, all of which are chocolate egg layers. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your chocolate egg layers.
