(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes! We got our first chickens from a friend who didn't have the time to devote to proper care, now we have expanded the flock to 4 chickens a month ago.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
4 one from our original 2 and 4 from a localish farm.
(3) What breeds do you have?
A jersey giant, a golden laced wyandotte, a sex link, and either an Ameraucana or a lavender Orpington (she's only 5 months so it's tough to tell)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love all animals but am allergic to the pets with fur, so we got the girls as a way to fill the void in my heart and that they all have such different personalities.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I do a little crafty stuff, work in makeup, enjoy videogames and cooking.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a green cheek conure (my indoor rainbow chicken) and it's just myself and my husband making our harvest moon/Stardew valley dreams come true!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I had done some googling to try and determine what had caused us to lose one of our first girls so abruptly and this was one of the first places I found. The amount of knowledge made me feel very comfortable and the personal testimonies, experiences, and understanding is exactly what I am looking to be a part of.
