Sorry about your rooster. Was is old age or a predator loss?

We honestly aren’t sure. He seemed fine beforehand and one morning was dead in the hen house. No signs of predators or exterior injury. All of the hens seemed perfectly healthy. He was only around 7years old, he was with our first batch of chicks. I’m honestly not sure if that’s old for a chicken? I still have a lot to learn. He was an Old English Bantam we called George.

He was only around 7years old

It is relatively old.
I had a hen that would have turned 5 on the 29th drop dead two days ago. It's not a pleasant experience, that's for sure.

Oh ok, that’s good to know. Thank you for your response. Aw I’m so sorry. No it isn’t. Some of our current hens were hatched with him so I should prepare myself for them having the same fate I suppose. They’re still good layers though so far.
