Excited to get chickening!

Hi there! We bought a house this past summer and it has a large coop and run in the backyard. We've always wanted chickens and we are doing it this year! We have three kids, so everyone at our house is excited. Our youngest is 2, so I know we will have some challenges, but very excited!

Finding lots of helpful info here!

Nice to meet you Evan, Welcome to Backyard chickens. Is the coop in good condition? Has it been used recently? If so you would want to give it a very thorough cleaning, and precautionary spraying for lice /mites & letting it dry and thoroughly air out, before putting new birds in there.

The coop was in use less than a year ago. Previous home owners kept 8 hens. I posted a video tour of the coop and run.

Would love your thoughts on what I need to do to get it up to snuff. Also, can you point me to info about spraying for lice and mites? Sounds important :)
