Excited to join the flock!!

:frow Hi and welcome from New Orleans. I think @Idaho Chicken Bungalow has given you some great advice! Enjoy your time with us and enjoy your adventure as well as having neighbors who like that you have chickens. It sounds like y'all will enjoy your new life.
Hello! Thank you so much. My partner recently came back from a work trip in New Orleans (I was so jealous) Haha. Indeed, we are blessed to have neighbors that get as excited as we do when talking poultry. Its a dream! :wee

Thanks! SC is beautiful! I have a bunch of family members who live in Lexington, SC. Do you miss MA? Tropical weather is nice in PR, but I miss the changes that come with the seasons. Hopefully, this year I'll have my new flock to keep me company when missing the brisk breeze of fall. I might even bring my flock for a day at the beach. Haha.
I do miss New England. I miss my charming 102-year old house that was less maintenance then my new home. And, I miss the snow.

Hello Everyone! New member here.

I've had chickens since I was two years old when my grandfather gifted me my first pair. Since then, he made sure I loved poultry as much as he did. I've been on hiatus from the chicken game due to school and life in general, but now I'm back to the flock. About a year and half ago my partner and I inherited a house and land in the countryside of Puerto Rico. After many long talks, we decided to give it a go and left beautiful Massachusetts. Our property is surrounded by beautiful mountains and amazing views. Best of all, amazing weather all year round. (Not going to lie, I do miss MA everyday) Nevertheless, happy to be on this adventure. Since day one I noticed all my new neighbors had chickens and I desperately wanted to start my flock. They definitely are my kind of people and made me feel right at home. As of now, I haven't started my flock since I'm still working on converting an old shed into a chicken coop. My elderly neighbors are all excited. Due to the nice weather here they said I could just build a run for shelter and let them free range since we don't really have any predators in the area, but I just want to have my dream coop. Hehe. (Cant wait!!!). However, I do have a pair of Muscovy ducks (Mr. Pebbleton and Rosie) that a friend gifted to me as ducklings about two months ago and five goslings (Spam, Butter and the rest are waiting to be named... haha) I got shipped from a Hatchery in Texas. I'm very excited to be part of this community and looking forward to expand my knowledge of raising poultry with all of you!
Welcome! I’m new too. Falling more in love with chickens every day!!

I guess, no matter where we are New England always has a piece of our heart. My house was 104 and ohhh boy do I miss the old gal!! I do miss the snow too. No chance we get snow down here anytime soon. If we do, we are in big trouble. Haha. 😅
