Welcome to BYC! Barred Rocks are an excellent choice. I only have one but she is friendly and social, but also very bossy and rude - in a hilarious way! I think you'll enjoy the breed. I live in the Midwest so way different climate, but I've heard of people in Florida doing different kinds of coops that are more open to accommodate the heat and humidity. Maybe check out the coop section of BYC for some ideas.

Hello everybody! My name is Kerri and I’m very excited to join this community!
I have not purchased my chicks yet because I want to have as much information as possible to have healthy, happy chickens.
I live in Jupiter Florida and have a lot of space to raise a few chickens. I thought I would start out with four and go from there.
I have already started researching the coop I would like and all the supplies I will need as soon as the chicks arrive. I also have a great space in my house to start raising the chicks.
I have decided to purchase barred rocks. They are ok with the heat here in Florida and I would like to have a friendly chicken.
I would love any advice about raising chickens.

Welcome here Kerri you're doing it correctly doing research first. I think you'll do great read the articles you'll lose hours there. I've learned so much here in 3 years.
