Hello everyone. I have noticed when I free range my chickens, Charlie my leghorn rooster will hop excitedly.

It is already pretty funny watching him prance across the yard from hen to hen on his little spindly legs, but he also likes to 'popcorn' like a guinea pig without flapping. It is fun to watch.

I was wondering if anyone else's roosters or hens do this and if you think they do it just to show their bubbling excitement.

Looking forward to some nice reports. :)

I wish mine stopped at tidbitting hens, I caught him trying to tempt a box turtle with a leaf. Still can't help but wonder what could have been. :)
Mine don't do that, but they're almost constantly tidbitting their hens. My young Sumatra had a pebble the other day and he was trying so hard to convince his hens to come check it out- made me think of a penguin! :lau

You should make a video of your Roos happy dance! :wee

Now that sounds like a nice chicken story, looking forward to hearing it sometimes. Glad to know other people's feathered friends will jump about happily and my Charlie isn't alone in his bounce-club. :)
