Hi everyone. I have 6 baby chicks, 5 of which I got on Thursday at the feed store: 1 Buff Orpington, 2 Ameraucanas, 1 Dominique, 1 Australorp. This si so exciting!!! They are doing well so far but I also had an egg that hatched. Below is my question. I am so happy to be on this forum, everyone is so helpful and fun to read!!
I posted this in the breeds forum but only got one response.
The whole thing started because I live in Fair Oaks, CA--a place where the chickens roam free in the "Village". I loved watching, photographing and feeding the chickens, and one day I went into a place of business on a rainy day and came out to find a chicken egg laid in the parking lot next to my tire. I picked it up, got an incubator and yesterday she hatched. There is a goofy and cute Polish that hangs around in that area, but I don't recall who else. Knowing that I would have a baby, I went to the feed store and got 5 other chicks 2 days ago. My newly hatched chick, Molly is the only mystery. She is in with the others and doing well, but I would really love to know what she is. Any ideas? Should I post somewhere else too, or is that frowned on?
So here the beautiful girl is, 14 hours old! She is not really yellow, more of a light silver and grey.
