My new little chick, who arrived at the store (in the mail) today, seems to peep almost non-stop. She drank quite a bit of water when I got her home at 2:30pm, seemed to eat a tiny bit off the floor, slept a little. She seems only to be a few days old. I know she's probably REALLY stressed. She fell asleep (but peeped then too with eyes closed) when I held her. I did get her to drink a bit of sugar water with a dropper a little while ago, and a tiny few specks of chicken starter with water. She is cuddling with the other 2 chicks, who seem to have accepted her. I do have it nice and warm with a red light, she has rested with them, but doesn't seem to go deep asleep. The room is nice and quiet...

Any ideas? Does she just need some time? Maybe not eating much due to stress? Thanks!!!

Have you tried nutri-drench in the water to give her another boost? Hopefully others will come along with their opinions. GOOD LUCK!

No, not familar with that and it's 9:30 pm here. I'm hoping she'll settle for the evening now that it's dark. Only the red light on. I'll see if someone sells that, just looking for any short term suggestions, she's so tiny...

Well, she was pasty, so I cleaned her bottom and added some vaseline. I guess that means she eating if she's pooping! I got her to drink more sugar water, with a micro dash of salt, and watered down the mash more and fed her with a dropper. I increased the heat too, was only 80 or so, to 95. It's cooler in there at night. She's peeping a little quieter, so hoepfully she'll sleep now...

dont worry, they peep a lot when they are very young, once warmer they will peep and not screech so bad, peeping = good, screeching non stop for hours = probably cold, if it knows where the water and food is there is nothing else to do!

She is so cute! Maybe she is lonely?

Did you say that you only have 1? I know they love the company of each other, because they are flock animals. I know what you mean, I got one gosling yesterday, and she will peep non stop if she is not right on your lap!

But with a goose, only one here! Did you try a stuffed animal inside with her? Or how about a feather duster? Try one of those things and see if that helps. Good luck!

I did heat it up more, and she's with 2 others that seem fine with her. Lots of food and water. Maybe just stress, she was shipped in a box yesterday, most of the others all died
