Wow, ChickenShrink,I just noticed you are from Quebec! Wow, now I'm really amazed you got a Catalana! I live in Texas, less than a day's drive from Latin America and still nobody's heard of them. Maybe Quebec gets them straight from Spain, via France... or something...

What happened last spring is that my favorite breeder lost a whole batch of incubating eggs because of a power shortage. So he got some chicks from another breeder to be able to offer me some, but he told me he didn't know what breed they were. I'm sure that he will be himself surprised when I tell him that he sold me a Catalana pullet!!!

When I check with all breeders and hatcheries around here, no one has any Catalanas! But it's understandable, since they are not suited at all for our unforgiving canadian winters! Did some South American guy succeed to smuggle a few fertilized eggs from down South? I will certainly ask my breeder whom sold him those chicks!
