Instead of expanded metal what are your opinions on using diamond mesh metal lath.They use it when you do plaster walls. It seems to be a heavier gauge than hardware cloth. It is 27" x 96" and is $8.56 a piece.

If it's the stuff I'm thinking of, a coon can get his paw in the hole. But then the way that stuff made chances are good he may get cut off. Also I don't think it heavier that HC. It's made out of 24 gauge metal. HC is 19.

This stuff has a very small opening. My 12 year old daughter can't even get her pinky finger through the opening.
