i have a 5x5x5 Coop with 2 bantams and 2 Ameraucanas. I want to expand my flock and was hoping for Some advice. The coop sits on top of a 5x5x3 base that I was using for storage. I want to convert the base into a second Coop but I have a feeling the new additions will combine with the older gals and will all try to squeeze in one or the other negating the additional coop.
Am I right?
They would all share the same 12x12 run.

Probably if you start the new ones off in the new part of the coop, they would use it. Chickens are creatures of habit!

I'd bet they would all end up hanging out together, in one part of the coop. Depending on how many birds you are looking to get, you may be better off building them a bigger and better coop.

They will gravitate to the highest housing option and all end up in the top coop. Depending on your coop's construction you might be able to modify it some other way. Post a pic and you will might get some creative ideas you hadn't considered.
