Well since we now have the predator issue and because we are adding to our flock we have decided to expand our current coop. Right now we are using a "dog kennel" we bought at TSC. Its 8 gauge galvanized wire mesh with drilled and welded construction (taken right from the site, lol). Currently we have just a plastic mesh netting wrapping around the bottom foot of the kennel, but we are going to be replacing that with the 1.2 inch or 1 inch (havent decided yet) wire mesh. The open part that we are adding will be a double barrier with the wire mesh, one running on either side of the 2x4 "legs". Also we have bricks lining the bottom perimeter of the coop...all the way around with a solid barrier across the bottom of the door that is zip tied in and is actually a truck bed liner, lol. And here are the plans for the rest of the coop.

We still havent added the nest boxes or perches that I want on the enclosed part but its enclosed and the birds are in it. There are a few things that we kinda rigged for now because we are moving in 3 months or so but it is what it is for now. It aint pretty but it works and thats what matters. And yes the perches that are on the outside were intentional because of our predator issue.

O and the netting on the bottom is double layered...one on the inside and one on the outside of the 2x4s.

I just laid the bedding down and took these. I change it every other day and have it down cause its all dirt and with the ducks in there too I dont want it to get all nasty.

I think they like it, lol. Hopefully tomorrow or at least by next weekend we will have the nest boxes and perches in there.
