Expecting 8!

Most are our meat birds and some are for laying. This is mainly for our small family of 3. On occasion, there's extra eggs & I'll sell them to a good friend or just give them to her. We're not making any money at this, and she's doing me a favor just taking them off my hands. Its a fun & challenging hobby for me, as I'm retired now. We are hoping to become more self sufficient & sustainable here, so I'm hoping this is the last year I will ever need chicks from the hatchery. I may end up ordering hatching eggs from breeders in Canada though!

just candeled my egg again and it is completly dark,i dont know how to tell if the egg is dead at this point

My eggs have eight days left until hatch day! The second batch has twelve days, and my quail have sixteen days left. I'm not sure what breed the eggs are. I got them from a friend who has a variety of breeds. I'll post pics and keep updated. Good luck hatching.!

Check out Sally Sunshine's tips for hatching eggs. I can't post the link from iPad, sorry! Check other threads on this subject, like the Jan5/6 setting eggs date, who's with me? I'm sure the link is there.
I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to try it, if I knew there was a chance at life. Have heard if you're careful, & can expose a bit to get a sense of any life, wrap in warm, moist cloth & return to bator.
