expecting chicks the week of april 12th

I love reading everyone's updates! mine are doing great as well! I haven't tried treats or eggs yet, maybe later in the week.

They are so cute and I love watching them fall asleep until one without fail, runs right over the top of all the sleepy ones to cause 3 seconds of chaos...

They are all very friendly but the EEs are by far the most tame. Right now the welsummer and columbian wyandotte seem the most flighty. Once picked up, all of them settle right down in my hand and they will all eat out of my hand.

I can't wait until they start to look like hens ! I can't believe how fast their little wing feathers are comin in already.

i gotta agree with you on the EE! my EE are awesomely tame! they are so sweet and calm!!! i sure hope everyone's chicks have arrived by now! i know there were some of you who were still waiting. this is so much fun though! i was sent 9, but can only keep 5....so i decided on 4 EE and my SCM. do u know how hard it was to not include the 5th EE in my choices????!!!!

VERY hard!!!! but i know the other 4 chicks are going to a wonderful place where they probably get to free range.....so they'll be happy! i gave my girls a hardboiled egg yesterday and they just looked at it, picked at it a bit....but that was it!!! crazy girls!

Well, post office just called me. My box is not making any noise

And from what they can see there is no movement. MIL on the way over to pick it up.

The site said ship date was 4/14. Box says ship date was 4/13

It's my first time that I have ever ordered chicks. I have always just stopped by a feed store and picked what they had. This was an order that my husband and I spent two months discussing what kind of chickens we REALLY wanted

I'm so sorry. I know how hard it can be, and it must be so disappointing after so much thought. Make sure you notify them right away, so they can make things right! Not that a replacement fixes it, but ....

I just had a hatch of bantam cochin mixes. 15 hatched...still have about 13 in the bator...don't think they will make it. They hatched early, and I think the humidity was too low. I was putting them on lockdown and increasing the humidity and noticed the first pip. I feel awful, but I couldn't predict an early hatch, esp. since this was my first!

I'll be thinking about you today, and sending hugs your way!

Right now, we are doing the red tape. MIL is at home, opening the box, taking pictures and verifying what was in there. I have put in 2 phone calls to the hatchery, but I guess they aren't open yet. MIL says the box is VERY holey, and the chicks are all in one corner. Does not appear to have any heat packs, though she is double checking. If they shipped on Tuesday via air mail, and I didn't get them until this morning, geez I wonder why they didn't make it. Plus, they sat in a mail truck all night last night and it got down to 24 here.....no extra heat in the box.

Part of me don't want replacements, I'll just do a late order from MPC instead and get them in June

sorry about your hatch. I just received my first bator this week, and am going to play with it over the weekend, but I am scared to do my first hatch bc that is a lot of heartache to have
