I have a broody Muscovy and some chicken eggs I intend to hatch, but am a little wary about letting her hatch the eggs. I've heard Scovies make great broodies, but this is my first year with them, and will be this girls first clutch. Can I trust her to hatch the eggs? Has anyone had any negative experiences, like their Scovy quitting early or damaging the eggs? These are valuable eggs I cannot easily replace, so I want to be relatively sure she can hatch them before I let her set.
She has been sitting on her nest over some golf balls for four days reliably, she only gets up once or twice a day for up to 30 minutes at a time. There is no doubt she's broody. The picture above is from before she was determined to set!
