Experts with assessments not opinions busted

@sybonbon, I'm so sorry you had a bad experience. Not all members are cut from the same cloth. I've been kicking around here now for almost 6 years and yes, I've butted heads with a few members, but they are the minority and not the majority.

For the most part, the people here at BYC are compassionate, intelligent and eager to help. You will never hear that 'it's just a chicken' from anyone here. We do our best to help. We aren't perfect but we try.

I'm glad your 'he' turned out to be a 'she' and what a beautiful she she is also. Those eggs are gorgeous.

Thank you for your positive reply.

I agree. Ther vast majority of people are very sweet and encouraging. It really is a shame you found it to be otherwise. Please don't let it spoil your enjoyment of the site and the rest of us.

Come read my new article on my flock. I think you will find it fun and interesting. At least that is my intent.

No matter what anyone says it's never a good idea to rehome a suspected cockerel until you are absolutely sure.

I'm glad your baby turned out to be a girl. She's very beautiful. 🥰

Everyone says that cockerels are more outgoing and friendly as chicks. Our two boys were the complete opposite - total shy guys, whereas their sisters were super friendly (still are) and very confident. The boys have gained in confidence and are friendly towards us now too.

I tend to trust my gut. One of those pairs we hatched ourselves and I was sure right from the start we had a boy and a girl.

She is beautiful! I'm so sorry you had a bad experience. Not everyone on BYC is rude! Some people need to re-read their comments before posting to make sure they aren't rude but then again, rude people don't notice if their comments are rude. I've stopped watching some threads when a member is rude, I haven't used the "ignore button" but I have been very tempted. Sometimes it is just easier to follow threads that are fun and exciting, and there are MANY!
