Hey everyone! My ducklings are going to turn 3 weeks old tomorrow, and I just bought a new bag of food for them. I previously had them on a 20% protein Dumor Starter, but reading Storey's guide to raising ducks, I realized that I needed to drop the protein to avoid physical deformities. I just bought a 50 lb. bag of Dumor 15% protein Grower/Finisher.
(1). I am first of all wondering if the calcium and phosphorous levels are OK... ( I read also that the calcium levels should not exceed 1% from weeks 1-8... )
(2) Secondly, I am wondering what the heck these expiration dates mean. I need to now when the food expires, but I am confused.... On the bottom of the bag, it says 15/05/2018-08/03/22. WHAT??! It was made last year or what??! LOL when does it expire?? Haven't opened the bag yet, so I could easily return this if I need to get a fresher bag. Any help is appreciated. Thanks everyone!!

Personally, I strongly dislike Dumor. It's the only brand my birds were ever sick on and the only brand of feed that was being fed to every chick I had that died. Every other brand was just fine.

Wait a minute...I though ducklings needed the higher protein feed. Are you sure that 15% protein is enough?

A quick glance at complete feeds made specifically for ducks...all of the starter/grower feeds have higher protein amonuts that 15.
Any brand of food that gets moldy will kill any animal if that's all they eat.
