Expired chick...what breed is it??? (warning, photo of chick!)

Here is the little guy who passed on last night for unexplained reasons. It was a day-old chick. I want to replace it, but I don't know what breed it is. It is either a partridge rock, RIR, red sex link, or speckled sussex. It is identical to another chick that survives but I did not order 2 of anything; also, I ordered 3 of the partridge and I don't have 3 chicks that look alike???!!

All I know is it's not a partridge rock. If you put pictures of your others maybe people will be able to pick out which one it was easier.

Definitely not a Speckled Sussex, either. SS chicks are darker brown, and look like chipmunks.

My guess is red sex link.

usually rir are darker red, too.

Aw, poor chickie. Looks like an RSL to me - my RIRs were darker than that.

I went to the feed store and sure enough, it looks exactly like to RSL's there. I replaced it with a RIR, a buff, and 2 ameraucana's.

I'm color blind and have a hard time but it looks like a buff to me.

Its definetly a Rhode Island Red, My feed store has them and they are identical to that chick. Goodluck, -Jay
