Explain a GPS to me please

mom'sfolly :

We have many GPSs here at home. Ones on watches for the running dh, handhelds for the geocachers and a portable one for dh's car. My car has one installed. Most come with a set of maps, and maps can be updated for a fee. I haven't updated the one for my car, but I probably will soon. I live in an area with lots of growth, and it is hard to keep up. I think the geocaching maps are easily updated, and don't really cost anything. Dh's car GPS has newer maps than mine, so sometimes we will take it in my car if we are going somewhere unfamilar.

Nice to meet a fellow cacher.

Updates please! Thinking of getting one. Don't want to subscribe but can download from computer with those road map disks. Hubby loves to have one for his bike.

I got him this one. Came via ups today as a matter of fact:

Unfortunately the sale on Tom Toms ended yesterday I think. I only paid $120 for it. Looked at the garmins, but couldn't resist the price reductions on the Tom Toms.

On another note - one of my gifts from DH arrived the other day. It was also in a amazon.com box. Judging by the size of the box I know it's the Kindle I've been wanting for forever.

I've already picked out the first e-books I want to download to read.
