I really can't add to what the other members have posted. Birds can go broody most anytime of the year. I have one right now but every evening when I go out to collect the eggs I make her get out of the nest box. Eventually they usually get the message. My birds mainly go broody in the spring/summer. Even if you have a male and he fertilizes the eggs they are safe to eat. There is no difference in the taste.
