I had an egg break open last night apparently. It didn't get anything on any of the other eggs, just all over the bottom of the incubator. I cleaned all the egg out with wet paper towels, but I wanted to know if there was anything else I could do to save the remaining eggs? I have some bleach wipes that I was considering using to kill the bacteria...but I would be afraid that the fumes would be bad for the other eggs.....please help me know what to do!

If it had happened to me what i would do is take the bottom of the incubator and clean it with a MILD solution of bleach and water.....dry it out real good and put it back together...once the egg explodes it releases bacteria into the air and the eggs are pourus. This might not be the best way to do it but it is how i would do it....good luck..

Well, I decided to boil some water and wipe the bottom off with it. I figured that there wouldn't be any fumes with it and hopefully the heat will kill any bacteria. I cleaned it out really well and I think I'm going to be ok......man I hope!

Wish me luck

How many eggs did you have left in there?

I just candled last night....was day 7 on some and day 10 on others. I had 10 that looked like they were developing. I am so unbelievably disappointed. I really really hope this doesn't ruin my hatch.

No. It was a welsummer egg that I guess I should have pulled out last night. They were older eggs...and I had already removed 4 out of 6 of them...but I figured I would give them til day 10. Apparently that was a bad decision.

I am pretty devastated at this point. Hatching shipped eggs is not for the weak heart! I have had so many ups and downs.
