Hi guys,
My first time broody hatched 2 adorable chicks yesterday! She's still got 8eggs under her with no sign of pipping yet. When I went to check on her this morning she was shuffling the eggs around, kicked one out, sat back down on the eggs, then pulled the egg she had kicked out back under her. BANG! There was a massive noise then an overpowering smell! I quickly pulled her and the 2 chicks off, cleaned up the grey bubbling froth that was the rotten egg (with a couple of vomit breaks along the way!) and gently wiped the eggs. All the eggs smell of rot (or it's just permanently ingrained into my nostrils). How do I tell if these eggs are rotten too or just have a lingering smell from the explosion? I don't want to throw away viable eggs, but definitely don't want a repeat of the exploding egg!
Thanks for your help!
