In reading about bad eggs potentially exploding, what is the earliest that this can happen? Is there a range of days, during which this possibility exists? TNX

I used to work in a chicken house and sometimes the hens would lay their eggs in the shavings and then they would get covered and when you would walk around the house looking for rotten eggs you would accidently step on one and yes it would explode and smell pretty bad. We would check every week but it probably took several weeks for the egg to rot for it to explode just by stepping on one. Especially in the summer rotting would progress a lot faster.

You'd smell it before it did. I mean its really bad. I incubated a dead egg for 21 days before and no explosion.
