I am hoping someone with a lot of chicken/wound care knowledge can help me and my chicken Agda out. Agda was attacked by my cat 4 days ago. I assumed that she wasn't going to make it as it is a very bad wound, but after feeding her gatorade through a syringe and hand feeding her corn and wet chicken feed several times a day she is still alive and getting stronger.. Her would looks horrible and her crop is completely exposed. I have cut her feathers back, squirted watered down povodine/iodine solution followed by water and then triple antibiotic. Also just got penicillin from feed store and just started giving her injections today.
I know there are a lot of chicken experts on this forum and am hoping for some help as I am new to chickens. Agda is 4 months old. Am I doing the right thing? I don't want my chicken to suffer if this wound is too bad, but she is starting to eat on her own and is walking around (we have her separate from her 5 sisters). Is there hope for Agda or do I need to have her put to sleep?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
