Hi everyone,

Thanks for taking a look at this. We've been worrying all night and hope this forum can be helpful for us.

We have an Ameraucana with special needs (crossbeak, etc.), but we just noticed two peanut-sized lumps dangling from her neck. They looks almost like exposed organs, but it's really hard to tell. I'm looking at the chicken anatomy diagram and can't figure out what they might be. It doesn't seems like a crop issue, but maybe they're cysts or tumors?

Her feathers are missing from that area, so perhaps she was attacked or pecked at herself?

Her personality and energy are the same as always. She eats plenty of food and doesn't seem abnormal otherwise, which is why we just noticed this problem. Also, FYI, she shares a coop with one other hen (they've been together since we got them 9 months ago).

My wife and I would really appreciate any help or tips you guys can offer in pin-pointing what this might be and what actions we might need to take. As much as we love her, we're not considering complicated surgery. We mostly need to know if she can survive in this condition or might be harmful to other chickens or needs to be culled.

Again THANK YOU for being such a great help overall in teaching us about raising chickens. This forum has been a savior for us!

it looks like a type of tumor to me but that's just a guess. I can't imagine what else it could be. let's hear some others opinions on this. my best guess would be tumors. perhaps someone else has a different idea. are they hard or soft? are they filled with fluid? let's get some others opinions on this. but I'd say tumors. I wish you the best of luck. I'm curious as to what others think as well.. best wishes.
