This is a health and social question. It seems our hens are reestablishing the pecking order after 10 months and several have been ganging up on another chicken, who used to be the largest when they were all little.
It seems they've become aggressive and are pecking at her constantly. She's missing some feathers along her neck and her skin in those locations is looking very scabby from all the abuse.
How should we treat her skin since we don't want it to become infected.
Also, she's become very antisocial, sleeps in a nesting box rather than on the perch, and cowers in corners and alone during the day, and is quiet.
What suggestions do you have on treating her skin and is the anything we can do to make her life easier in the social order? Ie, is the withdrawal and shyness a temporary thing until she accepts her new place?
