expressions or tems that you should not say:

Quote:
The GOT (past tense) [get, got, gotten] that's really wrong is when it's used with "have or has", e.g.,
I've got two or he's got two. That's saying I have (got =did get) two, i.e., the "got" is not part of the sentence "I have two."

EDIT: It would be correct to say "I have gotten two in the past"; however, that's not the same tense. You'd be going from present to present perfect.

BTW, there's nothing wrong with "I went to the store and got some milk."

How about "Have you gotten those chickens yet?" There'd be nothing wrong with that.

I actually saw that used in a NEWSPAPER article recently..... I could not believe my eyes.....I told my husband we are a country of dufuses now...

I hope the plural of dufus is NOT dufusi....

The correct plural would be "dufi"..

here! A lot of them I say all the time, and most of the others I hear all the time. I say "how come", but 'yous guys' bugs me.

And, how DO you say Iowa, anyway?

It bothers me when people say "Illinios" with the S, or say "I-talian" intead of "It-alian". But I thought 'I owe a' was the way Iowa is said....

And does anyone REALLY say 'leggern' instead of 'leg-horn'???

Curse words! Especially in a public situation...

My DH and I went for a weekend get-a-way at the beach. Went into a gas station to get some gas and drinks and this woman (about the same age as I am - 30) and her husband/bf with their little boy who looked to be one or younger came in and she is loud and curising every sentence! I just ignored her since my children weren't present and said a prayer for the little one having to hear such stuff apparently alot. She is just being what I would call "trashy" acting. I really can't stand when people do this. A little civil respect for others should be understood when someone is in public....JMO

My DH's aunt told us the other day she was in Wal-Mart and this lady with small children said "watch out before that stupid B***h runs over you with her buggy"

People don't realize their children will grow up to be just like their parents and mimick what they have been around during their young lives....

Did I turn this into a rant? LOL

We were on our honeymoon, with my ex, and we met a Canandian couple that hung out with us most of the week and they said Eay every other word!!! Must be regional.

Yes, I think you're right. What I should have said is not ALL Canadians say "ay". I think its an eastern thing. But I sincerely hope no one actually says "aboot". It drives me nuts and sounds so dumb!
