I'm at a loss here. Everything I've read, researched and seen has said we're going to be ok with a delay... but... I can't help but feel that bit of panic. So I guess are we going to be ok? And when's the absolute latest you'd set the eggs in the incubator?
I have eggs that arrived today and eggs that I have been waiting on to ship for over a week. There was a small mistake that waitlist eggs went out early Saturday - they were supposed to go out today since my other eggs were supposed to ship today. If they went out today the USPS tools were saying Weds for them and Thurs for the others to get here which would have been perfect.
The eggs that we're waiting on were supposed to go out last week but they needed shipping materials and we were short 1 so even me asking to just get shorted one wasn't possible because can't ship without packaging. Unfortunately with one set going out Saturday - they're here early and the others are very late. Last Monday we were waiting on 3 eggs (of 12) so I'm more or less having a panic attack over these actually making it and being okay to hatch.
I felt like the biggest AH when I had to delay that breeder by a week and a half because we needed a tractor attachment that broke replaced asap. It was a massive expense that made groceries interesting and they were super cool with it. I'm trying to show that same chill but I'm pretty much stressing out. Some of those eggs were collected prior to last monday so they're over a week old and that makes me really nervous but I'm just trying to be a little hopeful. I offered to pay more when we had a price discrepancy and they said no since I am a new customer. I would have been happy to and I didn't want to be argumentative or come off like an AH in dealing with them so I've been sitting back crossing my fingers and stressing to friends.
I don't want to risk my other eggs and here I am. I'm too remote to get another incubator here in time, and the extra expense isn't something I can swing. So I guess that's my story right now... If anyone has advice I really appreciate you
