I was feeling optimistic enough to move the egg eater back in this afternoon. She wasn't welcomed but it wasn't too rough either. Fingers crossed she emulates the others and puts her egg where it can roll tomorrow!

In case anyone comes across this later and wonders how it came out, the only change I have made is swapping my grass mat for plastic nest box liners (I stuck them together in pairs so there are two solid pieces, 12x24, with the divide in the center. For winter, I put a small heating pad that lacks automatic shutoff into the center section where the chickens cannot go. I managed to get it to sit flat enough and the ramp angle is steep enough that the eggs roll to the center and on even with it on low, they *don't freeze*. Happy dance!
