Extra protein?

Should I be giving chickens protein if they are on laying pellets and also scratch feed? If yes how often and what would be best choices?

! Pleased you joined our community. I don't think it would be necessary to up their protein since you are giving a layer ration - which should have adequate protein - as well as scratch. I know some folks give a little extra protein during the molt, and some give extra scratch for fats during cold times, but in my opinion what you are feeding them is just what they need. I agree with the advice you have received so far and I do not worry about protein unless someone is moulting. As redsoxs has suggested, the balanced diet should be adequate.
