extra roost bars

There are 13 inches from the pdz to the bottom of the roost bars and 11 inches between boards. They should be able to jump from the board up if I am to setup the ladder to go to the board but I was just afraid they'll step too much in the pdz.. maybe try to scratch it looking for goodies...

If it's on the roosts it's kinda like 40 degree angle. Down on the board like 30

Whoa, what a roost board!

Might be hard to reach the back....or use a garden hoe with the handle cut down.

Is that front roost, closest to the door, hanging in the air (so to speak) and not over the poop board?

Yeah that roost is in the "air" i want to use the deep litter method so I'll need some poop. 36 chicken in that space would had been too much without the board catching some.
To reach in the back I can remove the bars and maybe use a scoop with an extension or something :)

I'd go with the ramp with the smaller angle...or put a concrete block under the low end of the steeper one.
Not sure if they be comfortable getting from the board the roosts, not much room to maneuver.
Either way ramp needs some cleats. 3/4" x 1/2" about 4-5 inches apart worked good for me.

You'll have to play it by eye......
.....be flexible and ready to modify if necessary, which you've already shown to be adept at ;-)

As a first try I've set it up going to the roost directly. The cleats are 1x2.
Sanded down to round them a bit.
The ramp is indeed kinda long and kinda close to the roost but I'll see
Tomorrow I'll install a 7x1 ft 3/4inch plywood with hinges so I can close the nest boxes till they'll actually be used for laying.

Awful steep....cleats look good, but need more near top.
Turn it around maybe, and put concrete block(tallways 16") under low end.

Now for the run I've installed a waterer and 2 3inch pvc pipes for grit and oyster shell.I have dirt under the coop so they'll might be able to find grit there too but I thought it wouldn't hurt. Also under the coop they should be able to find places for dust bath. Also I've added 3 roost bars, 2-v shaped and at the same level and one higher up.
Let me know what you think

Chicks are now one week old. They all made it in one piece from Murray.
Been feeding then starter from scratch and peck and adding quick chick from Murray to their water. So far so good. They love the feed.I'm only a bit concerned that they growing pretty fast and the enclosure is getting crowded by the day :)
I bought 2 premium starter brooder kits from Murray and combined them together. Problem is the panels are kinda short..1.6ft and I'm afraid it's a matter of days till they'll jump over :) not sure what I could do to quick fix.

If you start the ramp under the poop tray and have it double back to reach the roost, it will take up less floor space. Just a thought.

IMO skip the solid ramp and go with a hinged roosting bar type ladder setup, the ladder setup can be much steeper since they will hop from rung to rung vs trying to walk up a flat surface...

This (found on Google) image is actually a 'roost' but imagine one of these about 12-18" wide being your 'ramp' up to the real roost...

Even at very steep angle they will be able to hop up and climb it...

Updated ramp to roost bars. What do you think? Angle is definitely better and it's not wobbly. I have 2 wood pieces coming down from the roost bars with temporary screws ( long screws that just drop into a pre drilled hole so I can remove the whole thing for cleaning.
