Hello! I just got this chick from my local feed store (by way of Meyer hatchery) and this is how her eye looks. When I pull it open, it is cloudy and grey. She seems weaker than the others and is so much louder. She seems uncomfortable.

Any suggestions or advice?
Thank you, friends. šŸ™šŸ¼

Can you get a photo of the eye opened?

She may have suffered some type of injury/peck to the eye.

It's crusted over, gently clean with saline, working the eye open and removing the crusty material. Once cleaned and rinsed, put a dot of ointment like Terramycin eye ointment or Original Neosporin in the eye.

She may be weaker because she's not seeing well and unable to eat/drink like the others. I'd give her a couple of drops of Poultry Nutri-Drench twice a day, see that she's drinking and offer her some wet mushy feed. You can also mash up the yolk of a hard-boiled egg and give her that.

Green line, the opening of the eye. Red Circle is the lower lid. I don't see an eye growth, if you can point that out, it would be great. Thanks!

Thank you so much for the reply! It honestly may not be an eye growth. That is what my non-experienced brain labeled the under eye area. šŸ˜…
I will post another pic.

Poor sweet baby!

To me, it looks like the chick is blind in that eye, has suffered damage to the eye and yes, I do see now where you would think it's a growth.

The eye may eventually bulge out or it may not. I'd still treat as described, cleaning/flushing with saline and put ointment in the eye. Hopefully in time it will heal fine, she just will have lost farsightedness (the Left Eye is far sighted, the Right eye is near sighted). So she should be able to adapt fairly well if you can get her through these next few weeks.

She's still got her egg tooth, so quite young! I'd work on getting drops of fluid into her and see if you can get her eating. Do the best you can, I know its difficult with these tiny babies and they steal your heart!

I'll tag in @Eggcessive and @coach723 to see if they have better suggestions.
