Our rooster started of with a bump on his eye and two days ago it started to close.today I checked up on him and it's completely shut.. I'm not sure what to put on it to make it better. I have just been cleaning with water.

Please take it to the vet asap!! Same happened to my baby chick, and she stopped eating and drinking and didn't move. 3 hours ago she died and water came out of her mouth and I've been crying ever since. I have no idea what happened to her but I'm making sure it doesn't happen to the other one :(

Does he have any signs of pox or fowl pox? Was he pecked on the eyelid? Does he have nasal mucus from his nose? Your rooster may have a respiratory disease such as mycoplasma (MG or CRD) or infectious coryza. It would have to be tested to know for sure. Those diseases make carriers of all chickens surviving and the ones around them in the flock, so isolate him. If you chose to treat rather than cull him, antibiotics such as Tylan, Gallimycin, and Tetracline may help. For coryza, which sometimes causes a bad odor around the head or swollen wattles, sulfa drugs such as Di-Methox or Sulmet may work better. Here is some info:
