eye infection?

Thought I would update on the hen. She is fine

. About three days into things we had a second one of her group present with one eye swollen shut, so off to isolation she went. No eye bubbles, just swelling below the eye. Same quick resolution, the next day she was back to normal as well. The two hens stayed in quarantine for the week and went back out to the big-girl flock 2 days ago and all is well.

Being new, I really don't know what was going on and I don't even know if what I did helped, but I want to offer two words of advice to newbies with sick chickens: Don't Panic. Isolate your birds, read, ask questions and treat them the best you can. I spent days worried they had the worst possible thing, were going to die, and I would have to kill all my hens and sterilize the property. What I ended up with was 2 (out of 9) mildly affected birds that were back to normal almost overnight. So there is hope, Don't Panic.

I am having similar eye issues I noticed a few days ago my chicken was not opening up her eye not sneezing no mucus in nose just wouldnt open her eye.. My father in law bought us these hens and im hoping there from a reputable person.. the other two are doing great.. Rose the one chicken who wont open her eye I went out to check on her today and when she opened her eye it was gone.. and she has a clear discharge coming out of her eye but no eye ball.. could she have clawed it out of her head? The one thing i wasnt happy about when father in law brought these chickens to us is there topbeaks were clipped..

They MIGHT be ex-battery cage chickens. Heavens knows how she lost her eye, IF she came from the egg production business, small/cramped quarters could cause the eye loss.
Hope they will have a happy loving life with you...:love
