Eye injury

I noticed my Muscovy hen had one eye closed, so I went over to her. She couldn’t see me through that eye and kept hitting things. I noticed this. It looks like something pierced her eye. I’ve cleaned it out with saline solution. Is there any medicine I can put on it? Or is it better to just keep it clean and let it heal?

For something as serious as an eye injury, I'd use an ophthalmic preparation like Terramycin ophthalmic ointment. Best wishes for your duck's recovery!

Thank you! My local store says they have some so I'll go run up and grab some when I can. Ive got her quarantined with my serama group for now.

Her eye looks like it’s gotten worse. At least more swollen. Just did her second treatment of Terramycin.

It can take some time for the Terramycin to really make a difference, but an injury may cause permanent damage. Is an avian vet an option?

I have a local vet who takes in my birds. He has a huge wait list right now but I’m making an appointment for my cat tomorrow(another vet but same clinic). I’ll see if I can bring her in.
