I have an issue here I just noticed today.
One of my girls has her eye shut. It's not swollen, scaly, inflamed or anything out of the ordinary to look at, except she is keeping it shut.
She is acting normal, I grabbed her up and tried to open her eye and she is holding it very tightly closed, and putting up a bit of a fuss, she does NOT want to open it. I finally managed to get the eyelids open for a peek and her eye is just full of white pus. When I finally got it opened, pus oozed out, I could not see her eyeball.

I know she needs help but not sure what to do. I am calling the vet I take the cockatoo to to see if she can take me in today for an emergency visit, but any ideas what this could be, or what I need to be doing in the meantime here?

Let me add, she is acting perfectly normal, she's jumping for food, running around the yard, and is currently just now in the nesting box to lay an egg. Right now they are free ranging so don't want to interrupt them since they are not fighting / picking on each other, and i want to let her finish with her egg too of course but will round her up and isolate her later today to keep her away from the rest of them so they don't potentially pick on her until I figure this out.

Normally pus within the eye is caused by a respiratory infection such as Mycoplasma Gallisepticum (MG) or also known as Chronic Respiratory Disease (CRD) or Infectious Coryza. Did the pus smell similar to that of a fish? If not, it’s most likely NOT Infectious Coryza, but MG. Antibiotics can treat both of these bacteria, but it will not cure. She’ll be a forever carrier of whichever it may be. Since she’s not showing any other symptoms, you’ve probably caught it early plus it may be a very mild strain of the infection. I hope this helps!

How would they get this and do I need to worry about the other birds too? They don't interact with other birds at all,nor do I really.
