eye worms HELP!

My 8 month old Olive Egger has eye worm. She is acting fine and eating and pooping. I have been cleaning the eye (which looks like someone hit her with a bat) with sterile saline and the putting bacitracin eye ointment on it. That was before I realized what it was. I just gave her a dose of safeguard orally. Will that help?? Can I wipe some of the safeguard paste on her eye???
