eyes stuck shut???

I have a chick that hatched yesterday, and it's eyes seem to be stuck closed??? is that common, and is there a solution?

I have no idea if that is normal or not but I would try taking a paper towel putting a little water on it and put it on chicks eyes for a minute or two. See if that helps it open its eyes.

I wiped the eyes, they're not "stuck shut"... the chick just doesn't seem to want to open them??? I gave the chick a few drops of water sweetened with corn syrup

thanks Daisy... it's so sad, it was standing, drinking and looked ok, but with eyes closed... then it just got weaker and passed away

If it wasn't in pain it was probably happy! Still a shame though. Sad when a bird passes away espicially when they are young or your oldest chicken!
