EZ Frame Chicken Coop Build

Pics
Today was a busy day! The hardware cloth arrived and this time it’s black!

We cut down all the siding to the measurements of the coop, cut the roost bars, cut the wood pieces that will go between the legs to staple cloth, I cut and attached hardware cloth to the outer trusses. I also painted the base pieces with flex seal and painted the last side of the siding. I’m so glad I stayed committed to black hardware cloth—it looks so nice!

We even managed to cut the corners off the side panels.

I’m also really glad I didn’t listen to the husband and bought a chalk reel for the cutting! He said he could just use the laser on the saw, but it wasn’t enough. The chalk reel worked perfectly!

I also learned a couple things today…one, the peel and stick linoleum is not real sticky. So we went ahead and used flooring adhesive to make sure it sticks! And two, the plastic used for the joint braces should NOT be hammered ☹️ they break pretty easily.

My hand is hurting from all the painting and my back is hurting from all the bending and lifting…so I’m done for today! 😭
Making big strides! Lookin good!!!
Luv how you are noting what not to do and what to do to do the job better too!!!

That black really does look nice! Was it a lot more expensive than the galvanized? Is the metal itself a smaller gauge? I'm about to start a new coop building. Maybe I should use that instead of galvanized.

Thanks! This roll was about $6 more than the galvanized at Lowe’s for the same size and gauge. I haven’t found stronger than 19 gauge for 1/2” or smaller. I also like the coating because it makes it slightly easier to handle. 😊

Awesome progress! You can fix that broken plastic with super glue (thin CA) and baking soda. Use 2 tiny drops of glue to tack it back together. After that dries sprinkle layer of baking soda over the crack then add small drops of the super glue and soak the baking soda. Final step, while that is wet sprinkle more baking soda on top. Let dry 5 mins and blow off the excess. Result is stronger then the rest of the part. There are a cpl good tutorials on youtube for this. You can also sand or shave it down with a razor to make it nice n neat when it is dry.

Oh wow! The black wasn't nearly that much cheaper when we did my run last year! You got an amazing deal!!!
Oh don't tell me how much easier it is to handle. I curse that blasted stuff every time I touch it! If it didn't do well with predators I would never use it...but it definitely does!!!

I know, it makes me CRAZY…but not as much as bird netting and fishing wire 😆 I’m going to get the 48” for the run now that I’ve been paid! :)
