Fact Sheets to go with Ducks and Ducklings.

How many of you give out fact sheets on ducks and duck care when you sell or give away ducks?

I have Bantam White Mallards, and i sell ducklings and adults.

I normally write up quick hints and tips everytime. But now im going to have a proper list typed up.
So anything you think i should include that i may not have thought of? I give the basics, food, water, heat, treats, bedding, flight capabilities, tips on telling gender...
What do you put on yours?
Or what helpful info do wish someone would have given you when you first got a duck?

I do.. Not only do I provide a fact sheet about the ducks- including who the parents were ( if known ) if they had any issues with hatching- and even give a " duckling apgar " score witch relates to its first 24 hours after hatching, weights at differnet ages, feeds given so far etc- I give a care sheet as well for the future care of the ducks. I also have a web page and specific email adress just for people who have bought my ducks to be able to contact me with questions. Mostly I just get sent updated photos and notes saying how the ducks are fairing at there new homes.

I'd include a little note telling people why never to dump domestic ducks at parks and ponds etc.

I'm not at the point where I'm selling too many ducks/ducklings yet, just a few here or there. But I'm really all about educating people on the horrors of dumping ducks.

Interesting. I do let people know if the duck or duckling they choose has had any hatch problems or developed any health issues. But i never thought to include weights etc.
I try to encourage people to view the parents so they know what to expect in colour, size, attitudes..
And i always include the option that if they want to get rid of ducks they have bought from me, and cant find homes for them, i will take them back and rehome them myself.

I would of loved to have Duck Health Care links for general health and emergencies. Also the name of vets you may use if the ducks are staying in the area. Of coarse tell everyone about BYC so they can ask away questions if they need help, wish I knew about all this stuff with my first few ducks, they might still be alive if I had the help everyone gave me on here-it saved the other 2 ducks life's for sure. I found this site after searching for info on what was going wrong and havent left here since. Now I barely have any trouble and even hatch Call Ducks from shipped eggs and get pretty decent hatch rates-love all the people on here!
I have always offered to take back any animal that I have given, adopted or sold to anyone-so that is a great thing to offer. I dont like to bring things into this world without giving it the best chance for a happy life
