Factory farm Chooks and morality.

Hey, in the past I have been vegan, even fruitarian. Now days I am not a vegan or eat only fruits and berries (if I am to detox I'll do that along with herbs for a period of time) I am ok with people having pets, I have a dog, 10 chickens and a rooster. Would I rather see all creatures wild and free.. of course, I'd rather see everyone and everything wild and free, but realistically my idea of an ideal society is similar to tribal societies.

Edit: A society in alignment with natural laws aswell.

It's funny some one calls me a philosopher
Well, a philosopher is someone who theorises about the deep questions of life, the universe and everything - you appear to fit that description.
There are some people who posit controversial theories not to encourage thought and discussion, but to stir up emotions, swapping and changing their position as they feel out their audience's trigger points. These people are called trolls. But this is a nice forum full of kind people, I don't think a troll would get much of a footing here.😁

Thanks, yep I wasn't trolling just chatting, maybe I'm a bit odd sometimes so ppl think I'm trolling idk.
I've thought about trying veganism, but then I think about bacon...
No contest. 🤷‍♀️
Yep, it can work, I just got slack with it overtime. The fruitarian diet I personally found better then vegan, as in I felt better on it once your body gets use to it, I transitioned from vegan to fruitarian though. People try one of these diets and start off not feeling so great so say it's not for them but sooner or later U get use to it and feel good in my experience anyway. Just listen to Ur body and do what feels best for u.

you might want to bait some of your fellow citizens about the way your government has gone "rabid mad" over this covid thing. From what I read and see you are letting them run all over you
Hmm, I know we're supposed to steer clear of politics here, but I'd like to suggest an alternative viewpoint on this (I assume you're talking about Australia here). Most of us see ourselves as a society co-operating nicely to save lives and we've done an outstanding job of it, nearly as good as New Zealand! The government has gone "rabid mad" on the small number of selfish idiots who keep messing things up for the rest of us.
There's nothing political here about vaccinations, lockdowns and mask-wearing. Most people, whatever their political beliefs, adhere because we want to "look after our mates" - it's the Aussie way.😁

Apologies ...... That was a dig in response to the comments on the US gov.

Another way to look at the morality of any farmed animal - Distress.

Are your methods - from womb/egg to death - designed to cause distress or provide a Bucolic/natural situation.

I think most large confined configurations are Distress centers.

I bet most folks haven’t been in a large poultry house or packing plant. Go spend some time around the feed lots in Garden City KS.

I try to avoid buying stuff produced by slave labor - everything in China, most of Southeast Asia, Africa, most garments even if made in the US. Likewise Malaysia and other Muslim countries that don’t use much slave labor prefer to multilateral their daughters genitals before they enter the work force. Designed to distress.

I explained my methods of chicken raising in a previous post so I won't go over it again here.

I total agree that the factory farms are the problem. We will never eliminate them, but we can change them. Few years ago they listened when folks got all in an up roar over cages and changed things up some. Only enough to shut people up and get them buying their eggs again, maybe, but at least there was some change in the right direction. The open warehouse system isn't perfect I guess but is still better than a cage. If you scale it down it is almost the same way that I raise my birds. Only I have 10 in my warehouse and they have hundreds or thousands in theirs. I have been inside one of the factory farm warehouses once and have to admit that I don't fully under stand how they are managed. I still say they are better than what used to be the norm.

I too, try to avoid all the foreign made products but it is impossible. There are just too many things out there that will never be made in the US again. The long answer to this is the rapid rise of the Chinese middle class. DDG "rise of Chinese middle class" and you can fill an evening on why.

The short answer is .... that's where the money is.

This is why us "Little People" need to reach out locally and network with the local population around them to find different ways to provide and acquire the different products and services they need.
