Faded looking eggshell?

One of my brown egg layers keeps having an egg that the color seems faded or whitewashed looking on say 75% of the egg. More so in the middle around the entire egg, but looks normal around the tips. It reminds me of very dry and ashy looking skin. When I wash it, it brings the color back to a brown glow, but as soon as it dries, it looks washed out and faded again. Is this something that I need to worry about? I've read the thread about egg irregularities and weird eggs, but couldn't find anything related to this.

One of my brown egg layers does this on occasion too (not sure which hen) then her eggs will go back to normal. The eggs seem fine and all the birds seem fine so not sure it's anything serious but I'll be interested in hearing from the experts on this too.

It can be an excessive calcium coating or a deficient bloom application and a glitch in the process.
Some of my birds lay shiny eggs, some lay dull ones.

Funky eggs happen, usually it's not an indication of any serious problem IMO,
just the variables of nature that we aren't used to seeing in eggs from the grocery as they are sorted out.

Here's a couple links that might help you learn about funky eggs.

Thanks aart. I've referenced that 1st link a few times for various questions but hadn't seen the 2nd link you provided. Very interesting!
