Just found this one:

For whatever reason, it did not absorb its yolk. :(


It's been my experience that this much yolk will never absorb and the ducklings will rip it open, so I decided to tie it off with a piece of rubberband and removed the yolk.

Very fascinating. Is there any likely hood that the odd shaped differently colored sections of the yoke sack you removed had any actual organs that should of been in the abdomen? The article links make no reference to this possibility. (Shrugs)

the inside of the yolk was just discolored yolk, no intestines.
 
Probably not, but it's quite perky and alert, so we'll give it a go, and if it starts to deteriorate I will euthanize it. Current weight is 33 grams, which is super small for a Muscovy.
Are you going to keep him by himself or does he have friends to encourage him to eat?
