I got 3 chicks from a local farm in April 2024. I believe I have 2 Rhode Island Reds and 1 Golden Lace. My 2 Rhode Island Reds are fully grown and 1 just started laying eggs. They seems as healthy as can be. I noticed something off on the Golden Lace within the first few weeks I had it. Something is off with it's legs. Sometimes it falls over and takes a minute for it to get back up. Sometimes when it runs it has to jump to keep up or it limps. It lays down a lot and lately I noticed it's toes beginning to curl. From what I searched I was concerned at first for Marek's disease, but it's eating and drinking normally and the other chickens seem fine. I'm thinking a type of deficiency. While the other 2 are fully grown, this chicken is still very small and scruffy. It's like its growth is stunned. I currently feed a mixture of Healthy Harvest 18% Medicated Chick Starter Grower Crumbles Farm Feed and Healthy Harvest All Natural 16% Layer Pellets Farm Feed with Oyster Shell and Grit. Sometimes I put the electrolyte powder in the water, but it tends to drink out of random places in the yard instead. I'm new to chickens and looking for some input.

I agree she looks like an Easter egger, who could possibly lay some pretty eggs. Are the toes curling to the side or curling under? There can be reasons for crooked toes which can include hatching temperatures and humidity. Curling under toes do seem to be related to riboflavin deficiency, nerve damage, or a sign of Mareks. I would get a $9 bottle of human B complex or super B complex tablets at Walmart or other vitamin seller. Give her 1/2 tablet daily whole or crushed into a bit of mushy wet feed or egg, or a treat. If you can get a video of her walking, and upload it to a site such as YouTube or similar, then post a public link here, that might help. Does she get picked on by others? Is she getting to her food and water okay?

They seems to be curling to the side. At the moment it's super minor (this situation just started). I'll see if I can post a video. I just went to the feed store and got Rooster Booster Liquid B-12 Plus Vitamin K Chicken Supplement. It doesn't get picked on by the others and it's able to eat and drink fine. Side note, I'm not sure of it's sex. Do you think it's a hen?

I don’t see any pointy saddle feathers, and her coloring is more hennish. Usually the male EE’s tend to be more colorful. But the tail feathers are longish. Can you look for any pointy saddle feathers?

I can't tell if there are pointy saddles feathers, but I did recently notice little bumps on it's legs which I'm thinking might be spurs coming through. My other 2 don't have any bumps. I'd be relieved if it was a hen, but I'm just hoping I can manage it's health.

Oh she is adorable, okay a little pigeon toed from what I can see but hey 🤷‍♀️
in my flock any hen is welcome that has more legs than me (sorry really bad amputees joke 😂)
I have Iris, a Vorwek, who has always had the most exceptionally long toes and toe nails. She trips occasionally but then gets up looking around doing the ‘what was that I fell over ?’ look 👀. As I say she has always had this problem (problem ?) and manages just fine. She is 6 years old now and still doing just great.
If your girl can get the hang of her disfunctional feet give her a high five from someone with only one.
😃
