Looking for info on why some of our chicks develop swollen joints on feet and fail to gain weight
Loose desire to eat

How old is that chick? It looks like it just hatched. It takes a few days for them to get fluffy and filled out.

They don't need food their first 72 hours and just sleep a lot the first few days. If you sprinkle a bit of their crumbles around, they should start pecking at them.

yeah. never had Cornish, but I got a batch of Cornish x meat hybrids, and they just seemed weird. one was super runty and died, and the others were really unhealthy looking when I had them processed. not sick or anything, just meat birds, poorly bred and designed for weight over any useful genes.
 
So sorry. It's hard losing a chick especially when we've spent time with it and are trying to help it thrive. :hugs

I raise silkies, which are prone to vitamin deficiencies, so they can be a little particular but not as particular as a cornish.

I rarely have issues as I stick with high-quality breeders. I have their eggs shipped, which cuts down on the numbers, so I just order double what I need. You'll get usually 50/50 sexes doing that too.
