Faking it or practicing?

My daughter asks:
So I have a chick that sits on the nest
Makes all the normal eggs making sounds will stay there for and hour just like the others hop out like she's dropped an egg BUT no egg ??
Is she practicing?? Or maybe stressed ?
Or eating it ??
There is no mess or signs of an egg ever being there ?? But this ain't the first time she's faked out ???

Some hens just like to sit in the nesting box. I have a leghorn that does it constantly.
