Ok, I just had a panic attack lol. My biggest chick was laying on its side with its leg out and I just knew it was hurt or sick or something wrong with its legs. I ran over to the brooder real quick and they saw me coming so quickly and all jumped up including this one. Acted just fine. When I went to sit down again, it had to eat (anytime they wake up they HAVE to eat) it laid down like that again. Is it just chilling? Or do I need to worry. It is like it is sleeping almost on its side. You can see both legs. Its weird. I cannot get a picture, cause every time I go over there, it gets up again.

No worries, he is just sleeping. They do lay like that when they are relaxed and getting nice and warm on one side. You'll probably see it a lot when they have their first really sunny day outside.

thanks, this is my first time with chickens. That was weird looking.

Yea, mine do that all the time as well on a sunny day or when dust bathing. After all these years of having chickens, I still get paranoid when I see that and thonk that one has tipped over and died.

i pretty much freaked out the first time i saw it too. i only had six chicks and i was devestated to see one dead laid out like sunday night dinner. and then mine jumped up and ran too. which totally threw me. they are a funny bunch. wait until you give them their first bit of string cheese...you ain't seen nothing yet!

I freak out everytime i see my chickies in their brooder...I walk over and they are all (and I mean a good portion of them) laying down with their heads laying on the ground (like a dog)...I always think they are sick or died but they are always just sleeping.
