New to baby chicks and just for 7 of them and 6 are doing great. 1 Black Sex Link is having a really hard time walking. She tries (very little trying) but she wobbles and tends to plot over to one side and just stays there. She's eating and drinking water (tried water with Electrolytes and then switched her to water with Corid since I thought maybe she was sick) I did seclude her from the other girls because they would just step all over her. Her legs seem fine but I'm not sure if she's injured. What else can I do for her? I try holding her body up and her legs extend down but she can't hold her weight on her own. Today is her 3rd day like this and I've only had her for 4 days. She's not getting worse, but she's not quite getting better. Poops are normal too

Help....

Hi,

A three-day-old chick can't have coccidiosis, but the Corid won't hurt.

Are her legs seeming to do the splits when she walks?

Do you have anything for vitamins you can put in their water for a couple of days? We use Poultry Cell or Nutri-Drench.

B-complex might help too. If you have any, grind one up on a plate and give her 1/4 of one. Easier would be the cherry flavored liquid B-complex, then it's 1/4 of a dropperful. To get her to eat either, I'd make a small amt of wet crumble mash in a bottle cap, and mix the B-complex into it, so she eats it all. Once a day for a week or so and this might help her legs.

Have you checked her eye sight. Could she be blind in one eye?
I had a turkey poult like this and she was blind in one eye which made her wobbly and fall to one side easily.

Hi Thank you. I'll def get her the vitamin. She's about a little over a week. I bought her 4 days ago and she's been like this for 3 days. She seems tired all the time unless I pick her up and try to get her to reach her food and water.

It sounds like you are doing the right things for her.
Sometimes chicks have internal issues; we help them all we can and we wait and see.

I'm not sure how I would check? She seems tired and sleepy all the time, but sprouts up when I pick her up and set her near her water and food and eat and drinks fine and then she just sits and closes her eyes. I'm trying to keep her busy and active but she has a hard time with the walking and stumbles when she tries.
