Quick question how should i supply the heat to my coop? I was thinking of heat lamp but would this stress the birds out because light being on all night?

They do have a red heat bulb that is good for night time. How cold does it get in your area?

it snows once in a blue moon SC. but mainly stays in the 40's-50's

you shouldnt need heat if that is all the colder you get, we here in KS get down in the 20's and dont have heat.... havent had any problems so far.

In that case, I wouldn't heat the coop at all. Those are really mild temps, and your chickens should be able to handle that quite well.

Reaper, Ditto thoughts on not needing heat with S.C. temps. Main thing is cutting down on drafts or air leaks. They should produce enough body heat to handle those lows. Ventilation is always still needed to get rid of moisture, odor, etc... Good luck
